Presentation TransAtlantic Retina Meeting
Throughout our career, we have always believed that the future of retinal diagnosis and therapy depends upon those willing to think beyond conventional boundaries.
The most important advances in retina have never come from standing still. They have come from collaboration between clinicians, scientists, engineers, researchers, and industry innovators prepared to challenge established thinking and pursue new possibilities for patients: “Innovators & Disruptors”.
Today, retina stands at an extraordinary moment in its evolution.
Artificial intelligence, advanced imaging, gene therapy, novel therapeutics, robotics, drug delivery systems, and next-generation surgical technologies are rapidly transforming what is rapidly becoming possible in everyday clinical care.
Yet innovation alone is not enough.
The true challenge lies in:
- How innovation can be responsibly, meaningfully, and effectively translated into everyday clinical practice;
- How emerging technologies move beyond the laboratory;
- How ideas become treatments;
- How research becomes reality for patients.
It is with this philosophy in mind that we are creating and are pleased to share the launch of the TransAtlantic Retina Meeting (TRM), convening 17–19 February 2027 at the Royal Chelsea Hospital, South Terrace Lawn, London; a setting that reflects both heritage and forward thinking, qualities that continue to define the evolution of retinal medicine itself.
TRM has been conceived as an international gathering for the innovators and disruptors shaping the world of retina.
A meeting designed not around scale, but around significance, in a carefully curated environment bringing together some of the most influential voices from around the world across retinal research and development, industry, engineering, investment and clinical innovation.
This is not intended to be a traditional congress.
TRM is being created as a forum for meaningful discussion at the highest level. A place where pioneering ideas, emerging technologies, advanced devices, novel therapeutics, and surgical innovations can be explored openly by those actively building the future of retinal care.
Importantly, the focus of TRM is not innovation for its own sake.
Where TRM differs from existing meetings is its explicit focus on translating emerging science into real-world clinical practice: not only what is possible, but also what is deliverable and by whom, and ultimately transform patient care.
Another important aspect is our London UK location which offers an opportunity to showcase Britain’s strength in Research and Innovation alongside continental Europe and the Americas.
This is not aimed at being a meeting for the discussion of challenging medical or surgical retina cases.
Over two and a half days in London, leading international experts will come together to discuss the technologies, research, and ideas most likely to define the next generation of retina, including:
- Artificial intelligence and computational ophthalmology;
- Ultra-widefield and high-resolution imaging;
- Gene and cell therapies;
- Novel therapeutics and drug delivery systems;
- Surgical innovation and next-generation vitreoretinal devices;
- Clinical trial design;
- Integration of emerging technologies and therapies into clinical practice;
- IP protection;
- Investment.
We are joined by a unique Innovation Program Advisory Board whose membership is being limited to a small group whose contributions to research, clinical trials, or industry mark them as genuine innovators in our field.
Further announcements will follow soon.
We look forward to building this together.
